Recent estimates from National Grid Plc and the electricity market regulator Ofgem show levels of spare electricity generating capacity falling to low levels in winter 2015/16. In October, a government commissioned report by the Royal Academy of Engineering stated that in the absence of intervention, spare capacity would reduce in a manner that would present an increasing risk to security of supply.
This roundtable briefing will bring senior representatives from business, government, academia and NGOs in to parliament to discuss with parliamentarians the risk to the security of electricity supply and approaches to mitigate the risk.
This event is open only to MPs, Peers and their staff.
